Pen & Ink

Pen and Ink

I am very much a recent inductee/convert to using Pen & Ink again. Although I have used pencils for note-taking, list making for a long time. I have also tended to use paper for writing out lists, whether for a To Do type list or just the humble shopping list. I have never really got comfortable with an electronic version for this process.

I began by getting a very cheap Herbin pen, but due to some issues with delivery, I also ordered a 2nd pen - the Noodlers Ahab. At the same time I also purchased some of the Diamine range of inks - Ancient Copper, Meadow, and Writers Blood. The Ahab has a 'flex' nib, although I write without taking a lot of the benefit of that, so producing a more normal looking text on the paper. For a cheap pen it will suffice for myself while I re-learn to make my handwriting legible in the long term to my own eyes...

I have tried all three of the inks. Loading up small quantities of each for use over a day, then flushing the pen between inks. Both the Writers Blood and Ancient Copper are super colours - the Ancient Copper being the ink of choice until the next refill occasion; the Meadow is nice, but not certain it is a colour I will use often?

Of course to go with the above I have also added to the stash of paper available to me. I had a few Field Notes, Rhodia notebooks anyway, and these I will use as I go along; I also inherited a couple of other notebooks from my mum of which I use one for everyday thoughts and notes. On top of these I also purchased two packs of A5 MD Notebook Light notebooks - a minimal plain notebook with, in my case, a grid pattern paper. So far, all the paper I have to use has been good for Fountain Pen use with little bleed-through or feathering.
